FIRST DRIVE OF THE ALL-NEW HONDA CR-V

ALL-NEW HONDA CR-V COMES TO IRELAND.

 The all-new version of the ‘World’s Best-Selling SUV’, the Honda CR-V, has just been launched on to the Irish market. Since the introduction of the first-generation model in 1995, the Honda CR-V has gone on to win numerous industry awards. This latest evolution of the popular compact SUV has been developed to exceed the expectations of customers, with enhanced and unique characteristics. The new CR-V now features a range of sophisticated technologies and superior quality throughout.

Fresh Exterior and Interior Design;

The new CR-V has a fresh and elaborate exterior design, with broader, muscular wheel arches, sharper contours on the bonnet and rear quarter panels, as well as the latest Honda family ‘face’ with its signature headlight graphic. The new model raises the bar in terms of interior quality, sophistication and spaciousness – including, for the first time, the option of seven seats on petrol All Wheel Drive (AWD) models. Benchmarked against premium-brand products, it delivers improved ride quality, steering response, body control and Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) management. Evolved in every way, the all-new CR-V delivers more comfort, convenience and connectivity than ever before.

Larger Proportions;

The all-new CR-V’s slightly larger exterior proportions, longer wheelbase and wider stance enable a significantly larger interior. Best-in-class space efficiency is highlighted by the generous space available for all occupants, as well as a wider, deeper boot with a longer load bay. A new two-position boot floor enables a flat surface for loading larger items, while a hands-free power tailgate enables convenient loading access (standard on top-spec models).

Clever features make the new CR-V easier to use every day. For example, the height of the tailgate when opened can be programmed to avoid contact with low ceilings, while cabin flexibility is boosted by three-mode centre-console storage, and new single-action ‘dive down’ 60:40 split-fold second-row seat backs that enable faster, easier loading.

Next Generation Technology;

The new CR-V’s platform design incorporates Honda’s exclusive next-generation ACE™ (Advanced Compatability Engineering) body structures, which employs a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly. In addition, standard across the range is Honda Sensing™, among the most comprehensive suites of active safety and driver-assistance technologies in the class, combining radar and camera information to assist the driver.

Engines & Transmissions;

The all-new Honda CR-V is available, for now, with a single 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo Petrol engine with power outputs of 173bhp or 193bhp – depending on the model and transmission chosen. In February 2019, the new CR-V will be joined by a 2.0-litre petrol-hybrid model offering 200bhp and outstanding fuel economy. Two-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive drivetrains are available, as are a six-speed manual gearbox, or a smooth shifting CVT automatic for ultimate driving pleasure.

Trim Levels and Pricing;

With four trim levels available – Comfort, Lifestyle, Elegance and, range-topping Executive, there is sure to be a specification level to suit every buyers demands. Ex-works prices for the all-new Honda CR-V start at a very reasonable €33,500.

My short preview drive of the all-new Honda CR-V impressed me very much, and I look forward to bringing you a full test drive review in the near future.
