Opel ADAM  – Have it Your Way !

‘One of a kind’ is prety much the message that  General Motors ( the parent company of Opel and Vauxhall) want to get across to the car buying public regarding the wonderful ADAM city car.

In fact, the Opel ADAM can only exist once you start to make it. Outside and in, it is purely customisable – giving the customer limitless ways to express their inner self.  For drivers who are looking for a rugged twist on urban chic, there is the ADAM ‘Rocks’ which comes with distinguishing features such as unique front & rear bumpers, side sills, door mouldings and wheel arch extensions, along with an increased ride height (15mm) and much more besides.

However, my test car this week is the ADAM ‘S’ which sits at the top of the Adam line-up on the Irish market. If you are looking for performance that goes above and beyond, the 1.4-litre Turbo ADAM ‘S’ is the total package. With a powerful 150PS engine, sports suspension and aerodynamic styling, this ‘pocket rocket’ is capable of the 0-100km/h sprint in just 8.5 seconds.  Standard front & rear disc brakes provide some serious stopping power too, making this car very easy to live with every day.

The ADAM ‘S’ is intent on proving itself as a car that has equally as much ‘show’ as ‘go’. Boasting a bodykit with pure attitude, stunning 18” ‘Propellor’ alloy wheels, red brake calipers, air intakes in the front lower bumper and a unique rear roof spoiler this car looks great from every angle. Exterior colours are a big part of car personalisation and because the ADAM stands for self-expression, you get an amazing array of colours to choose from. In fact, there are 20 colours available for the body of the car and 8 colours to choose from for the roof and exterior door mirrors. Each and every colour has a funky name – such as ‘White my Fire’, ‘Purple Fiction’ and ‘Dancing Green’, while my test car was finished in ‘Forget About Grey’ with a ‘Red ‘n’ Roll’ roof and door mirrors. In my opinion, this is one car that certainly turns heads in a way that no other car range starting from just €15,795 can do.  The ADAM ‘S” is priced from just €20,750 – while my test car weighs in at €24,400 due to the addition of a Winter Pack, Premium Forward Lighting Pack, Technical Pack, Personalised Roof and Recaro Sports Leather Seats.
