ALL-NEW MAZDA 6e – The Essence of Electric Elegance.

All-New Mazda 6e – The Essence of Electric Elegance.

The new, fully-electric Mazda 6e represents one of the most significant chapters in Mazda’s celebrated history. Built on a shared platform with China’s Changan Automotive, the 6e carries the iconic Mazda badge into genuinely new territory. Mazda’s designers have done an amazing job of imposing the brand’s visual identity onto the underlying architecture, producing a car that looks unmistakably and authentically Mazda. Trim grades consist of Takumi and Takumi Plus variants – both of which come generously equipped with a high level of standard specification.

Coupé-Inspired Silhouette.

With its sleek blend of craftsmanship and innovative tech, the all-new Mazda 6e captures the essence of elegance. Smooth, flowing lines harmonise with the coupé-inspired silhouette for a strong, refined look, accentuated by the dynamic new LED signature wing. The strikingly-designed rear of the car features an active tailgate spoiler that automatically deploys at speeds above 90km/h, adding a genuine aerodynamic function to its visual drama, while the sleek rear taillight bar elegantly pulse to indicate the charging status. The Mazda 6e has been awarded the 2026 World Car Design of the Year, celebrating Mazda’s modern interpretation of Kodo – Soul of Motion design philosophy for an electric future. With its elegant proportions, sculpted surfaces and warm, inviting interior, the Mazda 6e embodies a harmonious blend of movement, precision and Japanese craftsmanship.

Beautifully-Appointed Cabin.

One of the highlights inside the driver-focused cabin is the Large Head-Up Display, which projects relevant information directly into the driver’s line of sight. Tan Nappa leather, combined with suede-cloth fabric creates a tactile, refined environment that rivals offerings from prestige German brands. Mazda has clearly invested heavily in the interior specification, and the calm, beautifully-appointed cabin is genuinely sumptuous. A sweeping panoramic glass roof floods the cabin with light, dramatically enhancing the sense of space and airiness for all occupants. A vast 14.6” central infotainment touchscreen dominates the dashboard, paired with a premium Sony audio system delivering genuinely impressive sound quality. However, the transition to a fully touch-based interface represents a significant departure from the brand’s human-machine interface philosophy of employing physical buttons for important functions. The meticulously crafted driver’s seat delivers exceptional comfort and optimal positioning, enhancing control and responsiveness, whilst embodying Mazda’s signature sense of harmony between car and driver – what Mazda call ‘Jinba Ittai’. The sleek coupé silhouette of the 6e delivers terrific everyday practicality, offering a generous hatchback boot capacity of 466-litres behind the rear seats, expanding to 1,074-litres with the rear seats folded down. There is also a 72-litre storage compartment (Frunk) under the bonnet, which is the ideal location for the charging cables.

Ultra-Fast Charging.

The Mazda 6e is powered by a single rear-mounted electric motor which produces 258hp and 290Nm of instant torque, delivering a 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.9-seconds, on its way to an electronically-limited top speed of 175km/h (where permitted). Designed for modern life on the move, the Mazda 6e comes with ultra-fast charging of up to 200kW, resulting in a 30% to 80% charge in just 15 minutes. The 78kWh lithium-ion battery delivers a WLTP range of up to 552km on a combined driving cycle, with combined energy consumption rated at 16.6kWh/100km. The 6e comes with a comprehensive suite of driver assist (ADAS) and crash protection safety equipment for total peace-of-mind motoring, and it was awarded a full five-star Euro NCAP rating when tested in October 2025, with identical adult occupant and child occupant scores of 93%.

Test Car Details.

My test car was a Mazda 6e Takumi Plus, which was finished in elegant “Aero Grey” metallic paintwork (a €1,000 cost option), and striking 19” alloy wheels. The eye-catching exterior design of the 6e is replicated in the spacious, luxurious cabin, which is finished in high-grade materials throughout. In addition to a comprehensive array of comfort, convenience, safety, infotainment and tech features in Takumi trim, additional standard Takumi Plus equipment includes an electric roof sunshade, 2-tone leather steering wheel, tan Nappa leather & suede upholstery, side door trim mid pad in suede, luxury dark wood grain film elements, and black headliner material. Advanced safety technology across both trim grades includes (but not limited to): Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Emergency Lane Keeping with Blind Spot Assist, Lane-Keep Assist System, and Smart Brake Support. On the road, the 6e performs every task asked of it in a confident and controlled manner. The steering is nicely weighted, neither too light nor artificially heavy, and as you navigate corners, the car feels like it is pivoting about an axis close to its centre, feeling light on its feet, yet dynamically precise in its road-holding ability. In addition, the car’s perfectly balanced 50:50 weight distribution results in enhanced driving characteristics. The brake pedal has a well-weighted feel to it also, and the overall ride quality in the 6e is smooth without ever feeling sloppy, while additional sound-proofing ensures the interior stays nice and quiet even at motorway speeds.

Verdict, Price & Warranty.

Overall, the new Mazda 6e is super-stylish, very well specified, and comes with an upmarket interior that offers excellent comfort and practicality. If Mazda’s aim was to deliver a premium yet affordable family car, it has certainly hit the target. The new Mazda 6e is priced from €44,260 (ex-delivery) in Takumi trim grade, rising to €46,210 (ex-delivery) for the flagship Takumi Plus variant. All new Mazda passenger cars come with the reassurance of a 6-year/150,000km warranty. The 6e also comes with an 8-year/160,000km high-voltage battery warranty as standard.
