Exclusive Mazda CX-30 ‘100th Anniversary Edition’ Review.

Exclusive Mazda CX-30 100th Anniversary Edition.

Compact on the outside and spacious on the inside, the super-stylish Mazda CX-30 has the flowing beauty of a coupé, and the bold toughness of an SUV, with refined quality in every area. Based on the Mazda 3 hatchback, it takes the sense of togetherness you feel only with a Mazda to a new level, creating a unique oneness between car and driver. Everything about the Mazda CX-30 has been designed for a more relaxing and stimulating experience, for both drivers and passengers. Through studying human sensory characteristics, the quietness of the cabin has been greatly enhanced by reducing both noise generation and improving insulation.

Creativity, Hard Work & Courage;

Mazda has now launched an exclusive 100th Anniversary Special Edition CX-30 to celebrate their hugely-important centenary milestone. From its origins as a Hiroshima cork producer, today Mazda has become one of the world’s most innovative car manufacturers. The ingredients for Mazda’s outstanding success story are creativity, hard work and the courage to question common practices, and forge new paths in engineering and design that others considered unfeasible. Launched in 1960, the Mazda R360 Coupé was Mazda’s first actual passenger car, which became an icon not only for Mazda, but for the whole automotive industry. To celebrate their centenary, Mazda designed and built  limited edition anniversary models based on the style of the original R360. Common features include a white body colour, burgundy red leather seat upholstery – embossed with a 100th anniversary logo, red carpets and floor mats, a key fob with a 100th anniversary logo, a special exterior badge and special 100th anniversary wheel caps. The result is an astonishing look which combines Mazda’s latest KODO design with the classic, retro looks of the iconic R360 Coupé.

Mazda M Hybrid Technology;

Constantly striving to further improve fuel economy and lower emissions, Mazda has introduced an intelligent Mild Hybrid system called Mazda M Hybrid, which uses kinetic energy from regenerative braking to help acceleration from launch, and to power electronics. The Mazda CX-30 features this new technology, which comes as standard on both 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G and 2.0-litre Skyactiv-X petrol engines. The result is a car that delivers outstanding performance, low running costs and strong environmental credentials.

Test Car;

My Mazda CX-30 100th Anniversary Edition test car looked amazing in its standard Snowflake White Pearlescent paint, with contrasting rear privacy glass. The 2.0-litre Skyactiv-X M Hybrid petrol engine produces 180PS (178bhp) and 224Nm of torque, while emitting just 128g/km (WLTP) and returning up to 49.6mpg (5.7l/100km) in the process. A smooth and precise six-speed manual transmission comes as standard, which adds a dash of sportiness to the overall driving experience. Skyactiv-X is an engine that changes everything, as it burns petrol more effeciently thanks to Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (SPCCI). It produces more power but emits fewer emissions, and uses less fuel than a regular petrol engine for an even better drive without compromise. As a result, the CX-30 drives every bit as good as it looks, with a compliant suspension set-up, direct steering, and dynamic handling characteristics, while the car’s terrific chassis ensures that the CX-30 is a relaxing car to drive too. When the need arises, the CX-30 can sprint to 100km/h from a standing start in just 8.3-seconds, and can achieve a top speed of 204km/h (where permitted). A hugely impressive array of safety systems come as standard in this special edition CX-30 and include such items as Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Cruising and Traffic Support, Driver Attention Alert, Driver Monitoring, Dynamic Stability, e-Call with GPS, Front Cross Traffic Alert, multiple airbags, G-Vectoring Control Plus, Hill Hold Assist, Intelligent Speed Assist, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Smart Brake Control (front, rear and rear crossing), Traffic Sign Recognition, and a Tyre Pressure Warning System. The Mazda CX-30 was awarded the maximum five-star rating by Euro NCAP, with an exceptional 99% score in the Adult Occupant category.

Premium-Class Luxury;

The Mazda CX-30 was always a great-looking car in every respect, and with Mazda having added this special 100th Anniversary Edition model to it’s line-up only enhances the overall appeal of the CX-30. The interior design of the CX-30 is every bit as impressive as the exterior, and is very similar to the sumptuous cabin of the Mazda3. The infotainment system is intuitively controlled by a central clickwheel, the climate control is operated independently of the infotainment screen for greater ease of use, and the burgundy leather seats are very comfortable and supportive. The cabin of the CX-30 is a very pleasant place to be, with high quality materials used throughout, with all of the main controls easily accessible to the driver. However, the Mazda CX-30’s real strength lies in its ability to feel as luxurious as premium brands in this class, but at a more affordable price.
