New INEOS Grenadier Rescue Vehicle for Kerry Mountain Rescue.

A new INEOS Grenadier specialist rescue vehicle for Kerry Mountain Rescue was officially launched in Killarney National Park recently. Funded by the Department of Social Protection through the Community Recognition Fund, the vehicle will support the volunteer team of 35 active members who respond to incidents across Kerry’s mountains and remote terrain. The team is trained in a wide range of specialist disciplines, including casualty care, technical rope work and search management.

Built for demanding off-road environments, the INEOS Grenadier provides the capability, durability and reliability required for mountain rescue operations in all conditions. The vehicle was supplied by Orangeworks Automotive, with specialist conversion work carried out by Primo to ensure it meets the operational requirements of the rescue team. This is the second Mountain Rescue INEOS Grenadier in Ireland supplied by Orangeworks Automotive, following the first delivered to the Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team in 2024.

The Kerry Mountain Rescue Grenadier is equipped with a wide range of specialist features designed for emergency response and challenging terrain. These include 17-inch steel wheels fitted with Bridgestone tyres, exterior utility belt, heat reflective privacy glass and the rough and smooth pack.

The Grenadier is also fitted with front, centre and rear differential locks, a heavy-duty 5.5-tonne winch with LETECH flip-up winch cover, towbar, roof rack, rock sliders, front light bar, snow chains, fire extinguisher and Starlink WiFi connectivity, ensuring the team can operate effectively in remote locations and severe weather conditions.
