Nissan Qashqai e-POWER adds new Guinness World Records title to its global efficiency story.
Nissan Qashqai e-POWER is a Global Efficiency Winner.
Nissan has achieved a new milestone for e-POWER, its unique hybrid technology, after the Nissan Qashqai equipped with next generation e-POWER earned a Guinness World Records™ title for the longest journey completed by a non-plug-in extended-range electric vehicle SUV without external charging or refuelling. Covering 1,980 km on a single tank, the record-setting drive showcased the efficiency, range confidence and real-world capability of Nissan’s e-POWER technology.
The journey took place in Colombia from 14 to 17 July 2026, travelling from Bogotá to the Caribbean coast and covering a wide variety of road, traffic and driving conditions. Every stage of the attempt was independently monitored and verified by Guinness World Records™ judges, who certified the achievement following a detailed review process. The record-breaking drive is the latest proof point in Nissan’s global e-POWER journey. Following successful long-distance challenges in the United Kingdom and Tasmania, the Guinness World Records™ achievement demonstrates how e-POWER consistently delivers efficiency, long-range capability and an EV-like driving experience across diverse terrains, climates and real-world driving conditions. By combining electric motor-driven performance with the convenience of traditional refuelling, Nissan’s e-POWER technology offers drivers the benefits of electric driving without the need for charging, helping make electrification more accessible for everyday use.
“This fantastic record once again shows the capability of the latest generation of e POWER technology. Qashqai e POWER delivers efficiency, refinement and EV-like driving performance that we have focused around real customer driving needs. It also plays an important role in Nissan’s electrification journey, helping more drivers experience the benefits of electric driving as they move towards a fully electric future,” said Richard Candler, Nissan Corporate Executive (CE), Family, Product & Components Strategy.
Unlike conventional hybrid systems, the wheels in an e-POWER vehicle are driven exclusively by an electric motor, delivering the instant response, refinement and smooth acceleration associated with electric vehicles. A highly efficient petrol engine generates electricity when needed, eliminating the need for external charging while maintaining the convenience and flexibility of a conventional vehicle. The latest generation of e-POWER features Nissan’s advanced 5-in-1 modular powertrain, integrating the electric motor, generator, inverter, reducer and increaser into a compact, highly efficient package. Combined with regenerative braking technology, the system continuously optimises energy use to maximise efficiency without compromising driving enjoyment.
Today, e-POWER technology is available in multiple markets around the world, helping customers transition to electrified driving through a solution that combines EV-like performance with everyday practicality. This latest achievement further reinforces Nissan’s commitment to delivering innovative technologies that make electrification more accessible and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future.
