The Toyota Camry Is Back – Bigger, Better & More Silent Than Ever.

New Toyota Camry Hybrid – Bigger, Better & Quieter Than Ever.

The all-new Toyota Camry Hybrid Saloon – with its sophisticated elegance and exceptionally rewarding driving experience – takes Hybrid to a new level. Powering the new Camry is an all-new 2.5-litre petrol engine (mated to a cutting-edge Hybrid system) which provides the car with 218bhp and 221Nm of torque, while emitting as little as 98g/km in the process. The addition of superior sound insulation in the new Camry reduces road and wind noise at speed, which perfectly compliments the serene nature of Toyota’s flagship car.

Sleek & Modern Look;

The new Camry’s sleek, modern profile is enhanced by new alloy wheels (17’ or 18’ depending on the model chosen), while the front view reveals a broad, confident front grille and stylish LED lights. Whether it’s arriving in style or heading into the distance, the Camry Hybrid exudes true road presence. This is a car that is truly exciting to drive. Toyota has been creating pioneering Hybrids for over 20 years, and now they have brought next-generation technology to the Camry to take Hybrid performance further than ever before.

Toyota Safety Sense;

The comprehensive Toyota Safety Sense suite of safety features comes as standard across the Camry model range, providing a unique set of advanced driver assistance technologies. Radar sensors and cameras help with everything from detecting potential collisions to monitoring road signs, providing complete peace of mind. Toyota Safety Sense features a newly developed set of five active technologies – Pre-Collision System/ Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beam, Road Sign Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control – with the ultimate goal being to reduce traffic accidents as much as possible, helping to create a safer driving environment for everyone.

New TNGA Platform;

The new Camry is built on Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, which endows the car with exhilarating handling, supreme safety, and intuitive new technology. TNGA provides remarkable roadholding and ride comfort, with a greater sense of control for true driving pleasure. Inside the new Camry there is no compromise on headroom, legroom or even the space between your shoulder and the door, and increased luggage capacity means you can take even more with you. With 524-litres of usable boot space, the Camry Hybrid Saloon can accommodate a golf bag and accessories with ease, while the boot capacity can be increased further by folding the rear seats.

Self-Charging Hybrid;

Because Toyota’s self-charging Hybrid system has the unique ability to recycle energy other cars waste, excellent fuel efficiency is guaranteed. This can be up to 30% greater fuel efficiency than an equivalent diesel engine, so Camry Hybrid Saloon owners won’t just enjoy the drive, they will enjoy the savings, too. Additionally, maintenance costs will be an average of 30% lower than those of a non-hybrid car. This is due to the fact that self-charging Hybrids have less wear and tear on items like brake discs and tyres, and – thanks to the car’s standard e-CVT (automatic) transmission, you don’t have a clutch to replace either. Also, the batteries in Toyota self-charging Hybrids are designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle, providing total peace-of-mind ownership. Combining a petrol engine and an electric motor means that Toyota self-charging Hybrids emit on average 40% less CO2 than internal combustion engine cars, while emitting up to 90% less NOX (Nitrogen Oxides) than diesel engines, with no particulate matter, providing better air quality for everyone.

Specification Levels;

The new Toyota Camry Hybrid Saloon is available in three trim levels – entry-level ‘Camry’, mid-spec ‘Sol’ and top-spec ‘Platinum’. As we have come to expect from Toyota, all trim levels come generously equipped, with the entry-level model coming with standard equipment such as stylish 17” alloy wheels, dual-zone air-conditioning, LED headlights, reversing camera, and front & rear parking sensors, along with many more comfort, convenience, safety and security features. Upgrading to the ‘Sol’ model will add heated & electrically-operated leather seats, satellite navigation, and a woodgrain insert on the dashboard, with the ‘Platinum’ model getting 18” alloy wheels, an upgraded interior, wireless phone charging, and additional safety equipment.

Test Car;

My test car was a Toyota Camry Hybrid ‘Sol’ finished in Pearl Red pearlescent paint with contrasting beige leather upholstery for maximum impact. Courtesy of a slick e-CVT (single speed automatic) transmission, the new Camry Hybrid Saloon provides quiet, confident, and brisk performance, with a ride quality which would give some premium brand models a good run for their money. Capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in just 8.3-seconds, the new Camry always feels willing and able to respond to accelerator inputs from the driver, while strong brakes ensure that the car can stop with the same urgency when needed. When tested under strict new WLTP efficiency proceedures, the new Camry proved itself capable of consuming as low as 5.3-litres of petrol for every 100km’s driven on a combined driving cycle – an amazing result for such a sizable car. The spacious interior of the new Camry is a very pleasant place to spend time in, with the emphasis very clearly on occupant comfort, while a logical approach to ergonomics ensures that every function of the car is within easy reach of the driver at all times. Overall build quality in the cabin of the car is of the highest standard, while supportive, and comfortable, leather seating ensures that all occupants arrive at their destination in a calm and relaxed manner.

Pricing & Warranty;

With a winning combination of striking good looks, cutting edge engine & drivetrain technology, and superior comfort, the all-new Toyota Camry Hybrid Saloon is destined for great success. All Toyota passenger cars come with a comprehensive three-year/100,000km manufacturer’s warranty as standard, while all Toyota Hybrid models come with a five-year hybrid component warranty too. With ex-works prices starting at €39,750, the new Camry is a tempting proposition indeed.
