All-New Transit Courier from Ford Pro records highest ever score in Euro NCAP Commercial Van Safety Assessment.

Ford Transit Courier – Setting new benchmarks for van safety.

Euro NCAP – For Safer Cars, Vans & Trucks – the independent safety authority – says that crashes involving vans tend to be more severe for their opponent vehicles, with a large percentage of accidents due to loss of control, in head-on and rear-end crashes.

That’s why equipping commercial vehicles with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that can help prevent or mitigate the effects of such accidents is so crucial.

I’m proud to announce that our all-new Transit Courier ¹ ² has recorded the highest ever score in Euro NCAP Commercial Van Safety testing – a phenomenal 93 per cent.

Euro NCAP’s dedicated programme for assessing the safety of commercial vehicles pays special attention to ADAS availability, and Transit Courier is the only van to achieve the top platinum rating in 2023. It’s also the first to earn the recognition under stringent new testing protocols introduced earlier this year.

The achievement is a testament to the talent of our engineering teams, their hard work and their dedication to delivering quality for customers.

The all-new van scored maximum points for its lane support technologies that include Lane Keeping System ³ and Blind Spot Information System. ³ A perfect score was also recorded for speed assistance systems including Intelligent Speed Assist. ³

Euro NCAP also commended the high level of ADAS features equipped as standard. On Transit Courier, safety is not an optional extra.

The platinum rating applies to all N1-category versions of our Transit Courier – including the petrol-and diesel-powered models that are already rolling off the production line at the Ford Otosan Craiova plant in Romania, and the electric E-Transit Courier ⁴ ⁵ that begins production there next year.

Michiel van Ratingen , Euro NCAP Secretary General, said: “Euro NCAP strongly encourages van manufacturers to equip their vehicles with the same crash avoidance technology that is already available on the market and fitted to passenger cars. The Ford Transit Courier delivers on this with almost all of its safety equipment available as standard and hence becomes Euro NCAP’s first platinum award winner under the new 2023 rules. Congratulations to Ford on this result!”

Transit Courier is not the only van from Ford Pro with a coveted Euro NCAP award. Our Transit ⁶ and Transit Custom ⁷ models earned Gold status in 2021, as did our electric E-Transit ⁸ last year.

Nothing is more important to us at Ford Pro than the safety of our customers, their employees, and the people they share the roads with.

It’s fitting that the very first thing delivered by our all-new Transit Courier is a first-class safety rating.

1 Ford Transit Courier homologated CO2 emissions 150-167 g/km WLTP, homologated fuel efficiency 6.6-7.3 l/100 km WLTP.

2 The declared WLTP fuel/energy consumptions, CO2-emissions and electric range are determined according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EU) 2017/1151 as last amended. The applied standard test procedures enable comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. CO2 emission and fuel efficiency ranges may vary according to vehicle variants offered by individual markets.

3 Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s attention, judgment and need to control the vehicle. It does not replace safe driving. See Owner’s Manual for details and limitations.

4 E-Transit Courier officially homologated driving range will be published closer to on-sale date. In accordance with the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). Published range (intended target value according to WLTP) can be achieved with a fully charged battery – depending on the existing series and battery configuration.

5 The actual range may vary due to various factors (e.g., weather conditions, driving style, route profile, vehicle condition, age and condition of the lithium-ion battery).

6 Ford Transit homologated CO2 emissions 165-357 g/km WLTP and homologated fuel efficiency 6.3-13.6 l/100 km WLTP.

7 Ford Transit Custom homologated CO2 emissions 152-318 g/km WLTP and homologated fuel efficiency 5.8-12.1 l/100 km WLTP.

8 In accordance with the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). A range of up to 317 km (intended target value according to WLTP) can be achieved with a fully charged battery – depending on the existing series and battery configuration.
