Clutch pedal sticking down

The clutch pedal on my 2014 Honda Civic sticks down at the floor sometimes, I am able to pull it back up with my toe when it happens, and it works ok for a few days until it happens again. My local mechanic has quoted me €950 to replace the clutch which I can’t afford at the moment. Is he right, is this my only option?

Regards

Liam

Hi Liam,

A clutch pedal sticking down to the floor is usually a result of an issue with the hydraulic system on the clutch rather than an issue with the clutch itself.
It might be worth having a fluid change / bleed carried out on the clutches hydraulic system, especially if it has not been changed for a while, old, contaminated fluid could be causing increased friction in the system. This fluid change is an easy and cheap first step to try. If that does not cure your issue, then you may be looking at a problem with the clutch master cylinder. Replacing the master cylinder is also usually a lot cheaper than replacing the clutch assembly itself.

Hope you get sorted.
