New Skoda Enyaq RS iV – Emotion in Motion.

Skoda Enyaq RS provides Emotion in Motion.

Skoda has given its fully-electric Enyaq iV mid-size SUV the RS treatment in order to satisfy the demands of customers who would like their EV to look and feel sporty. The ‘I’ in the name of the new label symbolises that Skoda iV models are ‘innovative’ and ‘intelligent’, offering tailor-made mobility solutions, with the ‘V’ symbolising a ‘Vehicle’. Skoda iVs are also ‘iconic’ and ‘inspiring’ with their emotive design full of character. All Skoda iVs distinguish themselves with their intuitive operation. The RS insignia stands for Rally Sport, and it represents Skoda vehicles at their most powerful and dynamic. Pointing to their 45 years of success on both rally routes and racetracks around the world, the RS brings that sporting pedigree to the road, while keeping hold of the thoughtful touches that make Skoda cars unique.

Exclusive Sportiness.

The Enyaq RS iV offers exclusive features as standard, and key equipment includes 20” Taurus black-metallic alloy wheels with aero trims, heated front & rear seats, a Head Up Display, Canton sound system, and an illuminated front grille (Crystal Face), along with an RS exterior styling pack, and an RS Lounge interior styling pack. Exclusive RS exterior highlights include front & rear sport bumpers with air curtains, RS badging, black window surrounds, black front grille surround, black SKODA lettering, body-coloured door sills, and black roof rails, while RS interior highlights consist of fabric & suede upholstery, lime stitched front sports seats, carbon/black decorative inserts, aluminium sport pedals, and a dark interior headliner.

Power & Charging Options.

The Enyaq RS iV features an electric motor on the front axle as well as one on the rear, making it all-wheel-drive, with a system output of 295hp from the 82kWh (77kWh usable) battery. The aerodynamically-optimised front-end design of the Enyaq RS contributes to the car’s high level of efficiency, and it also has a positive impact on the maximum range, which is up to 514 km on a WLTP combined driving cycle. Charging the batteries in the RS from 0-100% can be done via a domestic 7.4kW or 11kW wallbox in 13 hours or 7.5 hours respectively, with a DC fast charge from 5-80% possible in just 28 minutes.

Inspired By Modern Living.

The interior is defined by the Design Selections which are inspired by modern living environments and use natural, sustainably processed and recycled materials. With the exception of the 5.3-inch Digital Cockpit, which displays the most important driving information, everything else takes place on a central 13-inch colour touchscreen. The intuitive infotainment system provides access to Skoda Connect, SmartLink, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot, and many other services, while the standard touch-slider can be used to change the music volume, zoom in and out of the navigation map, or change the air-conditioning temperature. Additionally, the system comes with a Canton sound system, DAB radio, 2 x USB-C ports and 8 speakers as standard. The 2.77m wheelbase in the Enyaq RS iV provides the driver and passengers with terrific levels of leg, elbow and head room, so that every journey can be completed in spacious luxury. The cavernous boot in the Enyaq RS iV has a floor area of 1m squared, with a volume of 585-litres behind the rear seats, and it comes with a variable boot floor, cable storage bag, cargo restraint system and useful hooks to keep items in place.

Test Car Details.

My test car was a Skoda Enyaq RS iV, which was finished in striking Phoenix Orange metallic paint, with optional 21” Vision anthracite alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and an RS Suite interior. The Enyaq RS is a dynamic performer and, thanks to its 295hp and 545Nm of instant torque, it can complete a 0-100km/h sprint in just 5.5-seconds, on its way to an electronically-limited 180km/h top speed (where permitted). With all-wheel drive as standard, the car feels well-planted and self-assured on the road, and Skoda has provided the Enyaq RS with a stiffer suspension in order to make the car negotiate corners in a quicker fashion, while also helping with straight line agility. The car’s battery cells are incorporated into the floor, and this lowers the overall centre of gravity, which is important when driving around bends and for preserving the maximum amount of space for passengers and cargo. The steering is well-weighted and precise in its operation, and this makes manoeuvring in and out of parking spaces a simple task – a task that is greatly aided by the standard front & rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera. The Enyaq RS takes motorway driving in its stride and, with the provision of ample mid-range punch from the twin electric motors, overtaking slower moving traffic becomes a safe and predictable exercise. Thanks to multiple seat and steering wheel adjustment options, It is easy to find a perfect driving position, and the height-adjustable centre armrest enhances the relaxed driving experience
