The Supreme Winner of WWCOTY will be announced on March 8th, International Women’s Day.

The best car in each segment is up for the Women’s World Car of the Year top (WWCOTY) award.

Six finalists, the winners in each category of the 2022 Women’s World Car of the Year awards, are in the running for the top prize awarded by the only jury in the world made up exclusively of women motoring journalists.

The nominees for Supreme Winner

Peugeot 308 (Best Urban Car)

Kia Sportage (Best Family SUV)

BMW iX (Best Large SUV)

Ford Mach-E (Best Family Car)

Audi e-Tron GT (Best Sports Car)

Jeep Wrangler 4xe (Best 4×4)

The winner will be announced at 0:00 GMT on the 8th of March, International Women’s Day.

Sixty-five cars were in the running for an award. Each juror drove the cars and then voted for the winner of each segment. These same professionals in the automotive industry have now voted for the Supreme Car of the Year.

8 March is a special day for the Women’s World Car of the Year. WWCOTY promotes women in the automotive industry, the right of women to drive, and the right of women to vote. WWCOTY is the only car-of-the-year jury that is voted on by women exclusively.

Twelve years ago, WWCOTY began as an idea to recognize women globally in the automobile industry. Today, 56 female jurors from 40 countries on five continents choose a car not only for women but also for drivers worldwide, regardless of age, gender, race, religion, or nationality.

The knowledge that these specialists have of the industry, the countless hours they spend testing cars, and the years of experience that each of them have accumulated are what make this award, the Supreme Winner of WWCOTY, the best in the world.

The WWCOTY juries assess value for money, safety, efficiency, environmental friendliness, and performance, among others. All the votes they cast are monitored by Grant Thornton New Zealand, a consultancy firm that has been involved in the count since the WWCOTY began in 2009.

About Women’s World Car of the Year (WWCOTY).
Women’s World Car of the Year is the only car awards group in the world comprised exclusively of women motoring journalists. New Zealand motoring journalist Sandy Myhre created the group in 2009. Myhre is Honorary President while Marta García performs as Executive President.

The objective of the awards is to choose the best car of the year. The voting criteria are the same principles that guide any driver when choosing a car. Aspects such as safety, quality, price, design, ease of driving, benefits, and environmental footprint, among others, are taken into account when casting the votes. The car can not be voted for if the juror has not driven the car.
