Toyota remains Ireland’s number one car brand following the July sales period, during which Toyota Ireland sold 4,045 cars. Toyota continues to grow its leadership in the Irish market, with 14.9% passenger car market share in July.

Electrified vehicle options have continued to see a steady growth in 2023. Toyota have sold an impressive 14,999 number of cars in the first seven months of the year, with 88.5% of Toyota’s sales represented by low emission hybrid electric vehicles. Toyota has sold 3255 more cars than the next best seller in 2023 and accounts for five of the top 10 best-selling models, with the Corolla, RAV4, Toyota C-HR, Yaris and Yaris Cross all posting impressive numbers.

Toyota Ireland offers the widest range of hybrid electric cars on the market, demonstrating its brand promise of ‘Built for a Better World’ and reflecting the growing consumer demand for low-emission, hybrid electric vehicles. Hybrid cars are playing a key role in moving consumers away from diesel vehicles by offering an affordable and accessible switch to electrified driving, no matter their lifestyle, without ever having to be plugged in.

Zoë Bradley, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, at Toyota Ireland, said, “The July results are incredibly positive and we are grateful for our hardworking dealer network and the continued support from customers for helping us achieve this position. It’s evident by sales of hybrid electric vehicles that Ireland is making a move towards more sustainable motoring and keeping the environment front of mind when choosing their next vehicle. Hybrid electric cars offer an attractive alternative: an electrified option that doesn’t require plugging in, with the benefit of lower fuel costs and less emissions, particularly in comparison to diesel cars which have much higher Nox emissions. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings, and with the recent launch of the all-new Prius PHEV and introduction of Toyota’s fifth generation hybrid electric technology, there are plenty of options for customers to choose from.”
