Team Captain, Tena Thornton, said: “We are very grateful and acknowledge the support from Opel Ireland as we look ahead to competing on the world stage, from Limerick. Tag rugby is a growing phenomenon that is attracting more and more women and this tournament is sure to raise the sport’s profile even further.”

In 2019, the International Tag Rugby Federation awarded the 2021 Tag Rugby World Cup to Ireland. Two Covid-19-related postponements later and Ireland is less than days away from hosting the World Cup.
