PEUGEOT ADDS TO ITS ELECTRIC LINE-UP WITH THE LAUNCH OF 3 NEW MODELS.

This week saw Peugeot introduce 3 new models at the second E-Lions international press event of 2023 which took place in Tarragona, near Barcelona, Spain:

The New 208

The E-308 hatchback

The E-308 SW

NEW 208

The 208 was the best-selling car in Europe in 2022 and is an iconic model in the PEUGEOT range. Now it is taking on a whole new dimension. The 208 is being refreshed, becoming even more irresistible thanks to a 100% electric version with a range of up to 400 km (WLTP cycle), its reinvented design, cutting-edge technologies and driving pleasure along with new powertrains.

Externally, a new light signature has been added. First introduced on the 9X8 Hypercar, the new PEUGEOT light signature on the front, consists of three long vertical light claws which are integrated into the gloss black inserts on the bumper.  The front also sees an updated grille with the latest PEUGEOT badge at its centre. The emblematic rear light signature of three red lights change from vertical to horizontal.

Inside, the New 208 sees the introduction of a new design for the digital instrument cluster, a large 10-inch central touchscreen standard on all models and dynamic ambient lighting with a choice of eight different colours on the GT version.

Technology has also been improved with the PEUGEOT i-Connect system as standard which offers full connectivity thanks to a wireless mirroring function with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Other advancements include extra USB sockets, a more powerful induction charger, High-definition parking cameras and a comprehensive range of driving aids including:

adaptive cruise control

automatic emergency braking

Extended road sign recognition and display

Active lane departure warning with lane correction

Driver attention alert

Blind spot monitoring

The range will be based on three versions – ACTIVE, ALLURE, GT – and five powertrains, including the new 115 kW/156 bhp all-electric motor, offering a range of up to 400 km (WLTP cycle) and the new HYBRID 100.

For customers looking for their first taste of electrification, the new 208 offers a new 48V HYBRID powertrain from PEUGEOT, comprising a latest-generation PureTech 100bhp petrol engine, combined with the e-DCS6 dual-clutch electrified 6-speed gearbox which includes an electric motor.  In urban driving, the new 208 HYBRID 100 can operate more than 50% of the time in 100% zero-emission electric mode.

The new 208 range also offers two economical and efficient petrol engines. A PureTech 75: 3-cylinder 1.2 petrol engine with 75bhp 5 speed and a PureTech 100 3-cylinder 1.2 petrol engine with 100bhp 6-speed. Both are equipped with a Stop & Start system.

Available in 7 colours with 2 new colours being added, Agueda Yellow, the launch colour and Selenium Grey.

The new 208 is available to order in Ireland now for January delivery with prices starting at €25,395 for the 1.2 PureTech and €32,780 (including SEAI grant and VRT rebate) for the E-208.

E-308 & E-308 SW

Already available in petrol, diesel and electrified plug-in hybrid versions, the two PEUGEOT 308 silhouettes – the hatchback and estate SW, will be available in 100% electric version from early 2024. PEUGEOT will be the first European manufacturer to offer a 100% electric estate. The electric 308 and 308 SW will be powered by a brand-new electric engine with a range up to 413 km (WLTP cycle).

Inside, the same level of comfort of the ICE and PHEV 308 can be found with the latest generation of the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® with its compact steering wheel, now heated on the E-308, a 3-dimensional digital head-up display, which can be customised and configured and its central 10-inch touch screen.  Also in place on the E-308 are the fully configurable virtual i-toggles, and connectivity including the latest i-Connect® Advanced technology, an infotainment system that makes the driving and travelling experience more intuitive and rewarding.

A brand new fully electric engine will be launched on the new PEUGEOT E-308 and E-308 SW: with 115 kW (156 bhp) and 260 Nm of torque (available from 0 km/h) for immediate responsiveness. The new engine will drive the E-308 silently, without vibration and without CO2 emissions. This engine will complement the current range, which includes 180 bhp/132 kW and 225 bhp/162 kW plug-in hybrids and internal combustion versions.

A new 18-inch aluminium wheel has been specifically developed for the 100% electric versions of the PEUGEOT 308 and 308 SW. Its aerodynamic efficiency is particularly well designed to optimise performance.

The on-board three-phase charger comes as standard and has a power rating of 11 kW. From a 100kW public charging point, the vehicle charge will go from 20% to 80% charge in less than 25 minutes, 12 minutes for 100km.

Technologically, the new PEUGEOT E-308 and E-308 SW feature the latest generation of driving aids to promote calm and safe driving. These include Adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go function, Long-range blind spot monitoring and Rear Traffic Alert, which warns of danger when reversing.

The E-308 will be available in Ireland in early 2024 and will be available to order later this year once prices are released.
